Previous owner of my boat attached a for sale sign with that thin plastic inch and a half wide brown parcel sticky tape onto hull. Now I can't get it off (or the tape!). If tape does come off, it leaves behind its brown sticky glue. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

First try alcohol (rubbing alcohol? In french it is alcool a brulée) and if that doesn't work, acetone.

+ 1 for Sticky Stuff Remover.

a citrus based cleaner containing no flammable or otherwise dangerous solvents.

Every home should have a bottle handy for safe removal of the sticky residues left by labels etc.

Flipping lucky you got the parcel tape off. I used it to stick polythene over the window opening while refurbishing the interior. Needed a sharp chisel to get it off after a couple of months or so.

Police put a "Watch out for boat thieves" sticker on my polycarb windows three years ago and I still haven't got all the glue off

Angle grinder? Dont use any of the solvents mentioned. I'd expect Sticky Stuff remover to be safe though.

Plain ol' white spirit . Trust me it works .Rub on with a cloth leave for a minute and rub off with a bit more

I had the same issue with some old gaffer tape - white spirit softened the whole lot, but because of the fibres from the tape I used a small wallpaper scraper to remove the excess - finished it off with Cilit Bang...
