I’m going to look at a broom 35 sedan which has twin Hino thorncroft engines.
Was wondering if there were an option when new? Every one I’ve seen or read about seem to have Perkins or later volvos
I know hino are reliable Toyota engines and thorncroft would be the company that Marinised them.
Large 6 cylinders but not sure what model. Will be getting that info soon
Any advise welcome please

Hino engines seem to pop up in random places. Bayliner put them in some 32-36ft flybridge boats and I also saw a Corvette 32 fitted with a pair of 180hp Hino’s for sale in Ireland last year.
I presume this is the boat for sale in Ireland.. you should have a look for a Broom Build plate. It’s usually beside the lower helm position. There’s a possibility that it’s an Aquafibre moulding fitted out by another company. A friend has an Ocean 42 from the early 80’s but it was fitted out by Humber.
Here’s a link to the Broom Owners Club Broom Owners Club - 35 Sedan
Click on the photo on that page and you will see a selection of 35’s. The one difference is that the Broom build boats have 8 air vents on the side of the hull. The one for sale here in Ireland has 5.

Just been looking at 35 sedans on search engines and lots with 4 and 5 vents on the side?

You’ll find that the single engined Broom 35 Sedans were mainly ex-hire or inland versions. Emerald Star had them in Ireland. They had less vents.
I was just pointing out that it may not be a Broom built boat. Worth looking for a builders plate.

Well i bought her and the engines are sweet as a nut big turbo engines, no smoke on cold start up and smooth and quite, have plenty of power and very responsive.
Just need to arrange a lift and road transport as the Shannon Erne waterway is closed so cant move her as i would have liked.
had a good haggle and am covered for that expense i hope! LOL!
Got the engine plates and the engines are Hino Thornycroft W060D Any Hino experts about here?
Wish me luck she needs a lot of interior cosmetic work

Yes, it’s a Broom Crown. I keep her on the Inner Lakes, off Lough Ree. She’s a well travelled boat. That photo was taken in Crookhaven, West Cork. I haven’t been up to Lough Erne since the canal opened. Will have to make the trip in the next few years
