Quite like the look of these and having read the article in MBM thought I would look at one or two. Anyone had one and in particular what is the fuel consumption like (accepting that there are different engine fits)?

Super boats. Very well built, like all Brooms.

Consumption will depend on engines and type of use.
Early = Perkins HT6354 (145 hp)= Max 20 kts
= Perkins H6354 (115 hp) = Max 12 kts
Later - Ford 120hp = Max 12/13 kts.
Late = VP TMD 40(?) (125 hp) = Max 16/18 kts.

At river speeds all of these will use very little.
At cruising speeds say 10/ 15 kts, 10gph.

Just remember that these boats are between 20 and 30 years old and although many are well maintained and in excellent structural and cosmetic order, the engines may well have been under worked, and I would recommend very thorough service/ inspection before using at sea.

Excellent choice.

<font color=blue>I had one for a number of years. They are the most amazing boat to handle at slow speeds and at close quarters so much so that you can almost point to where you want the boat to moor and go away and make a cuppa and on coming back find the boat has done it all for you.
Most of them suffer from two faults. The first is the awful 'L' shaped bunk arrangement in the aft cabin. The second is that they are generally underpowered for sea work. You need at least twin 120s and even then they are not that speedy at about 12 knots cruising. They cannot achieve more than 20 knots whatever is fitted because they fall off their chine after that.
All things being equal they are a super boat though. Certainly they will make you look like the world's best boat handler. Finally, take careful heed of MikeTs comments.

Thanks - I currently have a Princess 32 so the age and max speeds are familiar to me and suit me fine (I am not looking to tear around the ocean but would like to get up to 10knots cruising when I venture out of the rivers). Take your points on the engines being underworked - when I open up the P32 I get a few minor oil and coolant leaks appearing.

Greg my first boat was a P32 my second a Broom Crown 37.. Why not go one better and buy my Crown, twin HT6354's 150hp each cruises about 14-15
max 17 nkts. Lots of eatras. shes on the brokerage at Brooms. CGN

<font color=blue>You will find the 35 much kindlier than the P32. You will need to learn to be very gentle on the engines as they are so incredibly responsive and directionally stable.

Clive, where is Finola at present? I couldn't find her at Brooms when I went there last week.
