Bronze Propeller anode depletion to bonding bronze skin fittings

Unfortunately there is a some surface pitting.

The issue comes up from time to time on the forums and I have put a link to a thread a couple of years back which Vyv Cox contributed to. There used to be a very good article about it on the Maxi Owners assoication website but I can no longer find it.

check that you are not using a copper based anti foul on the saildrive leg. I did this and resulted in very fast annode corrosion. Changed to non copper anti foul and problem greatly reduced

Well, here is a summary of my experience.
March 2010. New boat launched. Jotun Seaqueen antifoul by builder, contains copper I think.
August 2010. Mid season lift and scrub. Volvo prop anodes almost entirely depleted.
March 2011 lift for antifoul. Prop anodes depleted (less) and replaced. Antifouled with Seajet 034 - copper free.
March 2012 lift. Prop anodes - more than 50% left after 12 months afloat. Saildrive anode only lightly pitted. Owner happy.
