Can any of you knowledgeable ladies and gentlemen point me in the right direction - I was checking the oil inside my in hull transponder housing and wondered why it was covered in black gaffer tape, I removed the tape and found that the cap of the housing was in three pieces.
Anyone know where I can get another cap because that is all that is needed.

My transducer housing is standard plastic waste pipe (think its 40mm, could be 32mm) and lid is off a cosmetics bottle which happened to be a good fit with a hole drilled through the middle (well it is *practical* boat owner forum!). An 'end-stop' waste fitting (solvent type) would do the job. A nuisance will be withdrawing the cable to thread it though a whole in new cap. Depending on how difficult this is, may be worth slotting the new cap and if necessary making good (or taping up) afterwards.

My system uses a pipe that is large enough for the normal through-hull fitting to enter, then it uses two of the large nuts that normally hold the through-hull fitting on the inside of the hull, these nuts are screwed onto the through-hull with a neoprene washer between them. that washer seals the top of the pipe, and the transponder can be withdrawn through the standard through-hull fitting to top up fluids etc. - a simple system that works.
