Looks like the remains of the rod flailed about and got jammed against the areas damaged. I would probably get the new rod and put it together for an extended bench test. Bit concerned about the shock loading on the crank when those were knocked out..
Guru Steve65 might comment..

The block damage is fine, the piston damage is only the skirt, It will rebuild. Make sure the piston where its broken is completely round. If unsure buy a new piston, but it will run fine with the piece missing

Try and find a second hand one, you have plenty of useable spares and work out a safer method of handling it. Murphy's law states that if it can happen it will and always at the worse possible time.

Problem with that, is which spares are OK? Steve, who has extensive experience with these engines, thinks not a problem. Me, with little on these particular engines, slightly worried about shock loading on the crank with the flywheel twisting a locked rod.. I will go with Steve. I do have several other Honda engines and much admire them, but not an outboard.

There shouldnt be any shock loading and if so not noticable, its only the skirt thats damaged and can easily have tbe skirt machined off ...performance engines dont have a skirt. Personally ifvitbwas mine I would replace rod and piston and rebuild it.
If he OP can find a piston and rod hes in business.
If the OP reads this a Honda outboard is 57cc. The bore is smaller than a gxv/h 50 so piston is smaller but stroke is the same so dont buy a gxv/h 50 crank/ piston

I'll need to replace this oil vent tube it seems, but the channel where the tube inserts is cracked. Is that going to be a problem? Looks like it's designed to vent excess motor oil out the block?
