Hi all,
Does anyone know what the policy on liveaboarders is at Brixham? I have been looking at Brighton, went to visit there recently & think I would much prefer to be somewhere smaller and quieter. Also any other info, boaty & non-boaty about Brixham & surrounding area, more than welcome...

Many thanks in advance,
David.

Had several seasons in there, but not as a liveaboard. I liked it. Friendly staff, and a nice town. Car parking expensive. No haul out facilities or yard. Chandler a good walk up the hill. Tesco Express not far away. Not much troubled by weather. Northerly might be a bit lively.
Brixham is not a rich place so there are plenty of shops catering for people living on a budget.
They're currently rebuilding the shower block, but it was pretty good already.

Been there a few years and we like it. I don't know of any live aboards. Strong North Westerlies do make it very lively, but generally sheltered. Generally a nice place, excellent marina staff; suroundings very pretty but as OV says fairly down market in the town itself - but Dartmouth and Torquay are close.

You can get a season ticket for the marina car park, about 130 squids.

Considered Dartmouth ?

Fair number of liveaboards on the Dart in a wide range of craft. Generally the harbour authority is friendly towards them. Of course if you wanted a marina berth it wd be very expensive and I don't know the attitude of either of the marinas.

Very pleasant, except in an easterly if you're at the lower end of the river. Shopping not so good as rather up market these days but there is Somerfield in the town a minute or so from the river and, up the hill, Sainsburys and Lidl. Walkable or certainly busable.

Beautiful place and the upper reaches are very quiet.
