The first race of the French solo offshore Championship (Figaro) is on and the lads from the Artemis Academy are just doing great among some of the best solo sailors around. Hill, Goodchild and Ritch are among the leading pack on a race that had a record of entries, 40, among them 8 British sailors and an Irish one.

I am following the race on my blog, if you want to join in you are welcome:).

The guys I was talking about are the ones that come from the Artemis Academy:

and they had showed a good turn of speed at the beginning of the race but after all night sailing in very difficult conditions (very light and variable winds) they have showed that they have still a lot to learn. The First British is now Henry Bomby (16th), Jackson Boutell is 20th and Sam Matsom is 21th. That is not bad. There are 35 solo teams racing and most of those guys are professional racers and among the best solo sailors.

You can follow it here in real time:

Is there any tracking? looked at the website http://www.lasolitaire.com/en/s01_home/s01p01_home.php but couldn't find it.

Sorry about that. The last link was supposed to be this one, the tracker:

It is not yet the Solitaire du Figaro but the race that serves as qualification for that one, this one:

It was won by Jeremy Beyou a top sailor on Open60 and Figaro, the winner of the 2011 Transat Jaques Vabre, winner of the 2011 Solitaire du Figaro and 3rd on the last T Jaques Vabre.
I cannot find the complete results:
