The Cock O' the Bristol Channel race for pilot cutters and gaff rigged boats will start at noon on Saturday from Barry to race around Lundy. They will be moored in Barry Docks from Friday afternoon,
I saw one (Mascotte?) going down a couple of days ago. Motoring into a heavy wind-against-tide she was pitching something horrible and dipping the bowsprit deep into the water. I imagine she would have been happier to be sailing and therefore 45 deg off the wind.
A great morning off Barry at the start of the Cock O' the Bristol Channel race with 7 cutters crossing the line. They are racing around Lundy....Helwick and back to Barry..It's not often that you see so many of these lovely and historic boats in the channel at the same time. They should be arriving back In Barry and the prize giving at the Yacht Club by Monday morning.
