Anyone based Brighton-way???

I am currently in Titchmarsh Marina, East Coast...whilst "okay" I get the feeling there's a lot more power-oriented stuff going on the South-coast Solent way.

Mooring fees are horrific, though compared to the East coast.

Was thinking Brighton might give me a nice halfway-house....where I can run to the IoW in a few hours but also not pay the earth for mooring.

Anyone else got experience of the marina and local cruising ground?

And what's the town like for post-motoring beers (all cruising gags noted!!!)?

Based in Brighton.

Personally i like the marina. The marina itself has good facilities and reasonably secure.

Plenty of eateries and drinkeries, supermarket, shops and swindlery. The town itself is a mile walk.

Have found the cruising a bit limited due to the conditions often beng quite lumpy for our little tub. Although don't get the chance to plan trips to the boat round the weather which would probably help on that front.

Before we went there several people commented that there was nowhere to go from Brighton? So it may depend on what you want to get from it?

On the upside it never gets overcrowded out on the water as i've experienced in the solent.

Road access to the marina is generally good, but if you arrive peak times can be slightly slow unless you find the back doubles.
Clear access to the marina at all states of the tide , can get lumpy around the entrance but nothing to bad, just keep eyes out for the small power boats coming out tight to the wall and turning in sharp.
Premier make a good effort at keeping the marina clean, shower blocks cleaned every couple of hours, Good size fairways for berth access to moorings, Electric and Water available and are reliable.
Large fuel berth.
Marine Services slightly restricted, but there's plenty of mobile guys about.
Good berth holder association and yacht club, these are independent and small joining fee's
Day cruising can be limited, and subject to conditions, but not that bad to put you off.
IOW 2.5hrs, Eastbourne under the hour, Chichester hour and a bit, Littlehampton 45mins.
Fecamp 2.5 -3hrs

Once a couple of miles out, you can turn off and just float all day and have no worries

3 pubs and plenty of restaurants in the marina, Brighton an hours walk or good bus service into Brighton, day & Night.
Brighton night life, what ever rocks your boat is there
On miserable days like this, load of thing to do in the area if you want too, and stop the family getting bored.

If you need more info PM me.

I'm in South East London and it easier to go home 1st and leave after 7pm, once the traffic has calmed down, normally about hour & quarter, looking at your location, from QE2 Bridge to Brighton about the same in normal traffic, Normally having a drink by 9pm.

Not to sad and a good start to the weekend,
