I'm moving this Summer from Brighton to La Roche Bernard in W.France. How would you do the trip? All thoughts appreciated.

Depends a great deal on how much time you have and if that time is in little, or large, lumps. Also the size/speed of your boat and if you are treating it as an elongated pleasure trip or a delivery.

A bloke once said to me never confuse a delivery trip with a cruise. I think this is the nub of it.

I did Swansea to Arzal single handed last June with no overnighting. I had a 10 day time slot and did it in 7 without any effort, although I had excellent weather with constant NWerlies 3 -5 until the last day.
Route was Padstow, Porthcurno, L'Aberwrach, Ste Evette, Brigneau, Hoedic, Arzal.
I don't have much experience of the Channel but I'd be inclined to sail along the weather shore as long as possible. Am I right in thinking tides favour the UK coast on west bound passages?
Once past the Raz there is always somewhere to put in within a few hours in any reasonable conditions.
The Vilane is great - wish I'd gone years ago.

I would recommend Brighton to Guernsey (for some cheap fuel, a nights rest and to get best tidal advantage), then to Camaret making sure you get tidal gates at the right time, then to La Roche Bernard. If you have the time then there are lots of great places to visit along the South Brittany coast... One of my favourite sailing areas!

What is the pontoon availability like in L'Aberwrach during the month of July these days?

Last time we went there the marina was full so we took a visitor mooring for the night and next morning, when there was a mass exodus of boats we moved into the marina.

Interesting trio. In my head I had the same first 2, and then if the weather is good go for L'Aberwrach in one hop. Too far?

Interesting choices to stop. Where's Ste Evette and Brigneau? And I thought I knew W.France v.well !!

OP doesn't say how well he is crewed up, or his experience of the area. Roscoff is an easy 24hr access marina and L'Aberwrach from St PP might be a bit tight on the wind, so a long leg if tacking and if it is an unknown port, not the easiest of entries if you arrive at night.
