Don't often go there as it's on my doorstep...if that makes sense?
Anyway, my loss, as I've just had a w/e bimble there and back in company of another, and I just like to thank the harbour master, who came out to us, guided us to a berth (there was a line of boats coming in as it was a regatta w/e) and took our lines....all with great good humour and grace. Thank you. It was v. busy!!

No HM at present, Robin left a month or so ago and the new chap doesn't arrive until July. It is the Deputies running the show.

With them doing it so well wonder why they need the new chap!

Absolutely! And what a place Brightlingsea has become......walked out past beach huts, acres of grass and parks, sea swimming pools and large lido, welcoming yacht club with showers and good food, pubs, and chandelries and the regatta, with barges and smacks all dressed out. Best of all though was the short sail there and back, sun, a free breeze and a good 6 knots + most of the way there and back!
But it IS impressive how all the yachts coming in are organised by the HM (or deputies).........

I was there at the weekend too. Always helpful. Makes a nice change from a marina.

The Town Regatta people want to come to Leigh-on-Sea in September to find out how to do it properly, particularly shoreside where it was minimal.

True enough......bearing in mind that, it was strange to see shore side pack up in the afternoon. Although I normally try to avoid it: Mersea week as an event, is awesome..
(Still this was originally to thank HM staff.....did they arrange the wonderful breezes too???)

We have just met the Brightlingsea harbourmaster, as was, in Ystad in Sweden. He sends his greetings to you all, and asked me to say that they are loving the cruising life in the Baltic!

We were part of the team who took people dinghy sailing on the Saturday, highlight of my day was taking a blind lad who just loved his first sail, we sailed across to Mersea and when asked if he knew where the sailing club was he was the only one who pointed to the right place!
We then spent the evening in the Yacht club and had a lovely BBQ while listening to a loud band! The weather was just perfect for the Regatta, both the Yacht club and Sailing club did a grand job in introducing new sailors to our great sport!

Here's a few photos that we took of the smack fleet coming out of Brightlingsea...
