Any good for a mobo without tender?

Believe the HM has tender which he can take you ashore.
Of course....any info on watering holes (most important /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) and eating houses.

As the weather now looks fair it may be time to start enjoying some boating

That is when i can replace the earth lead to the port engine starter motor.....it sheared off at the end /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Hi Dougie

There is a water taxi at Brightlingsea that operates until quite late during the summer and the harbourmaster is very obliging if the taxi isn't running.

Last time I was there they had stopped leaving the loos and showers at the back of the Colne YC open due to trouble but the key is available from the h'master office.

I've never eaten in the town but I expect the bon viveurs will be along shortly with the top recommendations!

By fair weather I assume you mean not SWF6 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Guapa warning

So the people setting off in the next 3 weeks have no chance /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

They might as well all go to Holland then /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Guapa's once again determined not to end up there /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Dougie.
Water taxi runs until 11pm or just after.

Eating, you must try the Kovalam, which is a South Indian Restaurant which specialises in fish curries. You must bbook, even as early as 6-30 on a Saturday, it gets packed. Several pleasant pubs in the (small) town, cant remember having a duff pint in any of them.
The YC does good basic grub and is right on the waterfront, and the Adnams is passable good(cheap) too.

Beer fest 18th/19th August is my next visit there.

I'm sure that somebody knows more than me of the yard pontoons further up the creek on the left (past the scrap yard) where there are a number of (mainly) motor cruisers moored.

The only downside seems to be that they are drying moorings.

They belong to Morgan Marine, the local boatyard/chandlers etc.

Best pubs - Yachtsmans Arms is closest to the water and does a good pint of IPA. The Railway is a bit further afield but always has a variety of superb ale on the go (including their own brews at times) - it's about as basic a pub as you can get and is all the better for it. Not many pubs doing decent food unfortunately - the Yachtsmans does cold seafood platters, best pub food is at the Cherry Tree which is a 10-15 minute walk up the hill on the way out of town.

Best food by far in town, as has already been mentioned, is the Kovalam - quite different from your usual 'Indian' restaurant especially if you're adventurous enough to order things that you've never heard of before.

During the school summer holidays, the water taxi runs every day starting about 09.00 and finishing whenever...weekends, he is usually running from about 08.00 ish until 11.00 or later, tides/number of peeps ashore and on the p1ss, dependant.

Again, another call for the Kovalam, BUT with a proviso that you go prepared for a long wait...service can be painfully slow if they are busy with takeaways!

Food may be somewhat limited at the Yacht Club at the present, best to take as you find. Pub Grub well again the vote goes to the 15 minute stroll to Cherry Tree, the plus point is that on your way back you can stop off at the Railway, and then round off at the Yachtsman.

There are a couple of Chinese takeaways and another Indian, the Raj Pavilion which is ok but without the frills of the Kovalam.
