The best meat pies in the world are sold in the butchers in the high street (IMHO). Only ten minutes walk from the hard.

I still think the Fish n Chips are better down on the front, especially as come off the causeway after a sail all tired and
hungry and you get a waft of them.

You lot wouldn't know a meat pie if one hit you in the face! Everybody (in the know) knows Aussie "Brown Dogger" pies are the best! Especially eaten at the Melbourne cricket ground.
So called brown doggers, because even a brown dog wouldn't eat one!!

Re: Meat Pie War

Well, I am over here, well not exactly, I'm offshore Norway, but I used to live in the UK, but....it's a long story, anyway, the aussies reckon their meat pies to be the best in the world, I must admit having tasted quite a few they are pretty good. But theres nothing better than a Preston (Lancs) meat and potatoe pie with raw onions in vinegar (you need to be an afficianado) and mushy peas and gravy for me. I should imagine one of your southern variety may be OK......but.......

When we had a boat at Brightlingsea, many, many years ago, I don't remember meat pies, but do remember the wonderful Lardy Cake from the bakers.

My lack of memory for meat pies may clouded by the memory of a butchers shop, a wasp, my trouser leg and deciding just how far I could allow it crawl before baring all!

I'd have said that until recently too, but we've had a couple of indifferent pieces of fish there recently.
