I love being at anchor safely shoved up a creek where the mud is so deep an old Seagull on a piece of rope would dig in and hold you

the rest of the Walton Backwaters films are on the website for freemans and will be going up on youtube as fast as the small pipes can take it to google.

it is not S Georgia - but exciting enough for me and the slug

Hi Dylan, fab video, many thanks! Just one question ...... in the interests of maritime tradition, why is SuperSlug tugging at "its anchor"? And not "her anchor"? Or did she offend you that day? Just asking ....!

the slug has always had the definitive article

lower case -

The' is the definite article is English. It is used to restrict the meaning of a noun to make it refer to something that is known by both the speaker or writer and the listener or reader:

the slug is not pretty enough to be a she

so the slug is an it

You SIR are wrong

i like the way the slug looks, she is a working boat

machines that are at work are "shes"

I always fear for those who are sure that boats don't have feelings. I would not be so certain and, just in case I always give 'her' the benefit of the doubt. I would hate her to show her displeasure for past slights. The middle of the night in a force 8-9 is not a good time to explain that you did not mean it. :D:D

Boatie stuff

Sorry but the slug ,is the slug, is the slug., is the slug..etc ad nausium... if the slug was a 'working boat' by definition it would earn it's keep....OK?..Errrrrrr?

Without support this thread and 'himself' may just vanish off the PBO radar..and that's not a good thing...why not check out ..www.keepturningleft.co.uk.......and send a couple of quid to keep this fella in beer and Fray Bentos Pies?..you know it makes sense !

PS: re machines that work.....

So ....should I call my Black and Decker Drill Mavis??......my Washing machine..Doris..

Know what you mean though.....my boat is officially 'NIP' ..to me he's my 'little fella' ....tough as old boots...plays the fool once in a while and can be a bit of a *******......and yes...he's a Mirror Offsore...same as the slug..and I love him to bits...

BTW: I'm happily married with children...if you get my drift......

a washing is an aplience- a drill is a handheld aplience
a black and decker drill will not be used on a building site and if your builder turns up with one beaware, i have an old hilti drill(one of many) about 15 years old, none of my tools are "shes" and i have many with two exceptions
the hilti drill and my old transit van- they have earned it and there upkeep

i just like old machines an old crane, old van, old boats more so when they take a beating and with bit of care keep going

i do keep my subsciption going just renewed it
hope others will too its a real dream and would like to see it lived out by the man him self
