HI folks following my last post has anyone had the bravo three upper gimbal swivel pin repaired using the transom drilling method and having the gimbal plugged with round plugs if so how successful was it, as I have had mine done and I still have water coming in the gaiters and pipes have been changed also.
I am told this happens often

cheers

I helped replace the upper steering pin on a friends boat using this method. The worst part was undoing the top bolt while leaning across the engine and just finger-tipping a spanner that could only turn about 1 millionth of a turn before having to retract the spanner and turn it over for another go. Thinking about it now and may need to ring my therapist....

Never again.

That said we did not have any issue with the bungs leaking. I can say that the mercruiser template in the kit was wrong and our first hole was drilled to low.

We had to do this because his was very stiff ad was leaking past the pin.

hope it works out well for you.
