Just been informed the "gimball" bearing may have gone on my 5 mth old boat running on a Bravo 3 drive, the drive sounds rough when running, anyone had any experience of this?

If the noise you hear is a 'growling' type of sound, usually more pronounced in full lock then yes, I would suspect the bearing has failed, why after such a short time....I dunno, unless the bellows have split?

Needs to be looked at asap you may damage the housing it runs in if left too long.

As its a new boat the dealer is looking into it, it is a growling sound but not noticed it worse on full lock, it has got progressively worse over 3 months or so.

Does happen from time to time and is a quick and simple job to change. When changed they will quickly spot any signs of water ingress (poss bellows failure mentioned above) so don't worry about that.
From your comments it sounds like a failure / problem from the start.
On the good news front you should agree with the dealer that he does the 50 hr service elements of greasing the engine coupler/shaft splines, engine alignment and drive oil change for no more than the cost of the gear oil to you while he has it all apart. This should save you 100 'ish and appropriately compensate you for the loss of use of your beloved craft whilst they are sorting it out.
