......set off on their epic voyage to Estonia.
It'll be a breeze if they keep up this pace....

It seems they are starting in Huddersfield.

Takes all sorts

Fixed now.
.........and a feeble luggage strap to hold the boat on.

I wonder if they have a waterways licence or any documentation for the European leg?

Glad to see they have the fenders out already. That M62 out of Huddersfield can be hell at rush hour

"A tent on top?"

I hope that is the usual journo cock-up.

The craft looks pretty suitable for canal use, a bit iffy for use on the lakes if the weather is dodgy and as much use as a chocolate teapot if trying to cross the North Sea.

I'm in Saaremaa next week I will keep a look out for them!!

Actually there is a bit of history ref Estonian's and small boats, just after WW2 many escaped the Soviet oppression by sailing boats smaller then this to other countries incl one that made it to the USA with a whole family in board, I believe the current president (of Estonia!)family also escaped this way.
Crazy or brave? Actually you have to be pretty brave just to drive in Estonia /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Fair play to them. It's the adventure of a lifetime and people have done a lot worse with their time. It's easy to sit at a keyboard and scold them, but with the time frame they have taken to complete the trip, it'll be achievable.

Good luck to them. The boat has been a hire boat at Lowwood Hotel on the lake and is perfectly capable.
It's the detail planning I'm not sure about.
Son has already done a bike ride from London to E Germany and survived that.
There is a blog going up about it at www.2meest6hoblist4meetrit.space.live.com

However on checking it doesn't seem to be there.
(could always be a Westmoreland Gazette typo)
