Some of you might have looked at the photos I posted here of the scenes at Branscombe beach just after the Napoli was beached. Yesterday I was at a loose end, so thought I'd see how things were going down there.......

Not much activity around the ship due to the weather, but it appears that progress has been made removing containers.......

The stern is now clear .....

But the view from head on looks little different.......

On the beach itself, the major clean-up is nearing completion.......

Although rubbish is piled high wating to be taken away.......

Something that wasn't there last time.......

The barges are back out today and un-loading will continue. There are about 500 on deck still and 314 have been removed. Should take about 20 days to shift them.
Then there are 1350 below deck - which is another story.

Meanwhile more of the sunk ones have been located, and they are all where the drift modelling predicted - Safely up the top end of Lyme Bay.

And almost all of the oil is off - just a bit of diesel to go.

Great photos....
Haven't you been out by boat at night to help with the unloading of the containers? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just think of it as being a public service! The quicker the hulk is unloaded, the quicker the eyesore can be towed away! Anyway, just think how bad you would feel if one of the containers still on fell off in the bad weather and a fellow yachtie rammed it and sunk? It could have been the one you should have unloaded yourself /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif So do the public a service and get on board at night and unload a few containers......
BTW... I could do with one of those BMW motorbikes! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great photos.
Latest from the MCA is that she has settled along her length on the bottom now, and she is unlikely to break up as at first feared.
Scavengers who removed cargo have just one more week to declare their booty to the Receiver of Wreck. Failure to report after that could lead to criminal proceedings under the Merchant Shipping Act of 1995.
"They know where you live" we are told.
