Re: BP Tankers - 1969 - 1975

After these dates I'm afraid

Joined the British Merlin in July 1969 as Lecky

Also Mallard, Curlew, Cygnet, Fulmar, Patrol (twice), and Crusader.

Last trip was also on the Merlin before transferring to Offshore on the Forties field in 1975.

Was made redundant at the end of 1995 and after 18 months in Oz, have been back at BP as a "Consultant" ever since.

Re: BP Tankers - 1969 - 1975

Just come across this site after googling BP Tankers.
Served from 1958-64 with BP. Sailed on Glory, Beacon, Birch, Patriot, Queen, Gannet, Clyde Guardian, Renown & Trust.
Gannet was my first ship as uncertificated 3/O. Got my 2nd mate's ticket & stayed for a further 2 years before leaving for another career. Did our paths ever cross? Hope you weren't on the Crown when she had an explosive 'happening' at Umm Said. If you want pics of the Glory & Gannet I can scan them to you.
Happy days!
John.

1972 until the Tennants took its toll.
Mallard, Curlew, Guardian (how many times did we brick the boiler) and Navigator.
Left there and ended up at Toughs for a few years.
Now that was fun!

I'll tell my dad to take a peek in here, he was on them during that period, and on until the mid 80s.
