We are currently “servicing” our recently acquired 20 year old Newbridge Pioneer. It is fitted with a Boyce Mast which we want to lower to check rigging lights etc. However, having removed the two semi circular clips at the boom to mast fitting neither us, nor the guys in the yard can see how to remove the boom. Any useful advice would be appreciated.

if i remember correctly, you have to raise the boom almost vertical at which point it lifts out upwards. the boom fitting is a bit like a claw.

but you might have to remove some bits first _ ia cant remember but I think the two stainless circular clips hold some fittings in. Not sure - but am a lot more certain about raising the boom.

When it finally stopped raining we got the shackle for the sail out of the way and lifted the boom higher than before. The two round wedges dropped out and I was left holding the boom.

Many thanks for the help
