Bowman 40 info help please

Am contemplating a Bowman 40. YM gives the weather helm a few black marks in its 1988 review. Can anyone help with an update about just how well Bowman/Chuck Paine sorted this one. My wife simply doesn't have the strength for a wayward steerer.

It's the sheel keel that is a bigger problem..........loads of leeway when it gets lumpy. There is also a serious storage problem, which is why they bought out the 42. Be v. careful about build quality. The factory was like a home activity centre which is why they went bust. Quality control was non-existent.
