Bow Thrusters

It's a 49 footer from swedish builder Najad, called a Najad 490. See their site at www.najad.se. I had her built two years ago with a large amount of custom speced stuff. She's quite loaded for long distance cruising and hence probably closer to 19 tons than the speced 18. Very happy with her. Right now I have her layed up for the winter in Scotland. Just let me know if I can help with anything.

Mine is 12 volt and will have its own battery to keep the cable run to the minimum. I just hope that I do not use it to often so I don't have to keep recharging the battery as we only have an outboard to power the boat!

How big is your boat? an outboard powered boat with a bow thruster! This is something I haven't seen before.

9m Catalac. Once stopped the wind catches the bows & off they go, hence bow thruster. We cruise at 5 knots ok using 0.75 gallons/hour. Did look at diesel outboards but the breakeven time was 13 years!

Of course! cataraman! Lots of windage, didnt think of that, yeh! expensive diesel ouboards aren't they!! !

Make absolutely sure that the supply cables through the boat are more than adequately sized (and this will depend on whether you have a secondary battery bank at the bow, which is sensible) and make sure that both ends of those supply cables are properly protected with correctly rated heavy duty fuses.
