Presumably he doesn't mind tearing the U-bolt out of his stem.

.........quite. But it just looks soooooo naff!

God that looks horrible and I bet the performance of this craft suffers even if its only a yacht!

IMHO I don't think anyone needs a bow thruster anyway! learn do handle the boat properly and you will not need a thruster! of course when I mean handle the boat that means knowing what the tide and wind is doing as well as being able to control the beast you are at the helm of!

Isn't it set up to be swung up out of the water? And the sideways forces to be transfered via the rope?

In that case, yeah, it looks naff, but bet it works well.

The beautyof the contraption which nobody has twigged its
not just a bow thruster, It can swivel 45 degrees, then can
also be used as a means of propulsion either forward or
astern.
I see the *king Aussies have done it again, only won Crufts!!
GGGGRRRrrrrr.

What you dont see is the flexidrive for it coupled to the anchor winch gypsy! it has many uses not the least winding wool and keeping seaguls of the grp. Joking apart! commercial thrusters often drop out of the bottom edge, turn 360 degrees ish and will drive the vessel in all directions, as evidenced by the large boat in Ramsgate that arrived under the power of its bowtruster only.

I agree about how horrible it looks and although mobos might not have much grip on the water a sailing boat does, so shouldn't need a bowthruster unless it's very ungainly or huge.

This boat doesn't look that big and I think they'd have saved a lot of money (and looks) by paying for a day's instruction instead. Whenever I hear a raggie saying, "Ah but my boat needs a bow-thruster because...", I always wonder whether they're confident parking or turning any boat in a confined space.

The other awful thing that occurs to me is that in order to cut down on resistance when sailing I fear they pivot it up to wave in the breeze above the stemhead.
Lovely.

But thats the trick LS, They got becalmed one day and just swung the thing up above the stemhead, pointed it at the rag and fired it up......hey presto......instant wind for you raggies!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
