Is this good to see from the sea, or too far away, or..?
And is it mobbed with boats and mayhem, spilt Pimms etc, or a good bit of fun?

Perfect to see from the sea. Just anchor off the beach with everyone else. Not too manic.

We'll be there Sunday, weather permitting.

I watched from the shore last year, but got the impression that there's an anchorage exclusion zone over the main display area, between Boscombe and Bournemouth Piers? Most boats seemed to be moored up over towards Studland and Shell Bays.

That probably doesn't matter, because we still got a cracking view of the action from our beach hut, which is about 400 yds east of Boscombe Pier - and which is where we'll be watching from this year as well: every time the Red Arrows start a new manoeuvre, they go straight over our heads. About 100 feet above us....

The exclusion zone must have been set a good mile or two miles off shore. We had a great view last year but it was a bit rough which made a couple of guests on board with us feel a little queezy.

Well worth watching from the sea. Yes there is a boat exclusion zone in force. I did however think it got a little crowded last year, especially as we arrived early to anchor. I'll be there again this weekend tho :-)

I was there last year and will be there on Saturday. Great views, yes there is an anchor exclusion zone, but make no odds. Wind is looking a bit southerly on saturday so can be a bit swelly.

From last year!

It was absolutely manic last year, idiots with no idea how to anchor. One bloke with a Fairy anchored far too close, dragged back on to me. My bow roller never been the same since, I doubt his woodwork has either!

I shall think twice this year, and keep away if it looks too busy.

Here's a sneek preview for you - we've had them at Dawlish this afternoon

As usual the Red Arrows were fab.

I expect that they will be running the same schedule at Bournemouth so dont miss it - well worth the trip.

Last year I sat in a posn. approx 50 42.7N 01 52.5W, just SW of Bournemouth pier, which seemed quite good, as I got displays flying right overhead.

The most popular spots were along the southern edge of the exclusion zone between the piers. You pays yer money and takes yer choice, but you don't pay any money!

Great pix. I was thinking twice about Bournemouth this year, as it was so crowed last year. Your photos have persuaded me to go along, I think the Vulcan is due to visit on Saturday.

Watch the display, then a quick run accross to Swanage to watch their firework display, 9:454pm, that kicks off, I think.

I was out yesterday on a charter... it was a bit rough to anchor for our guests so we cruised up and down which was fine to dayt is looking rough again....... weekend is ok about 1m swell according to windguru so should be ok . there is an exclusion zone. Vulcan Bomber came over yesterday .....Awsome sight shame the seavixen didnt open the show as planned but the pilot was taken ill last minute... nice guy Matt hope he gets better soon.

Out again with owners at the weekend for the airshow so if you see a manhatton with a big donut on the front then that will be us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
