This is the second of my easy questions. My boat was rerigged 4 years ago. Whilst the mast was down last year, one bottlescrew has gone AWOL. I took an identical bottlescrew into the riggers for matching and they supplied me with an identical new screw.

When I remove the toggle which came with the bottlescrew at one end and try to screw it into the other end, the threads seem different, it won't screw in! It will only screw in to one end, not the other. Is this usual? Are the threads on each end of the bottlescrew different?

Just in case it matters, bottlescrew might not be the correct name, it's open bodied so maybe I should call it a turnbuckle?

I just know the answer is going to make me feel stupid but I don't want to go out to Mallorca with a bottlescrew that's not going to fit the riigging.

Cheers, Brian.

Top thread is usually the left hand one and the bottom one the Right hand one. I think, but whichever make sure all your bottle screws are the same way up.

Whoops other way up

Thanks for the replies, I should have realized the difference was simply a left/right thread thing. Thanks for not laughing, well, for not laughing in public anyway.

Cheers, Brian.
