I know the market is boss eyed but £45,000 for a one owner 1988 Princess 415 is crazy. Other than the C.H. not working and the fact that the boat has never been in salt water ergo has no navigation equipment at that price it was a steal. The boat (Cassy) is now sold and good luck to the new owners whom I met at Val Wyatts today.

Saw it there the other day and thought it looked immaculate, absolute bargain at 45K. Trouble is its too old, unfashionable, wrong engines for sea use and the river, its been on the river all its life so if you want a sea boat it will be eyed with suspicion, and if you want a river boat you will look elsewhere. Think there will be a lot of large fuel guzzleing 70s, 80s cruisers going for a song from now on as they are simply too many out there, need to scrap a few so they become rare and classic.
 
Is it the one that used to moor above Hurley lock?
I seemed too remember she was very dated inside,how much to update?
No electronics,dual station,how much?
Poor engines,they must have been slowly dying for years,take her to sea,open her up,they would probably 'explode' with fright!how much?
Probably too much money for a white elephant,about right for a thames flat maybe?
 
She was well maintained, Alan spared no expense. He did cruise her every year but only on the Thames and she was in very fair condition though as you say the engines could do with a blow out. Although lacking some modern gear he would spend money on other stuff. I.E. Bow & Stern Thrusters that can be operated wirelessly from the bank-side.
 
A remote control princess 415......cool!!
Although why would anyone need those with twin shafts,that's just cheating!

AND, he is in his 80s. He always amused me how he'd buy the latest gadgetry in one area and refuse to spend any money in another area. Like his C.H., Blakey took it out and Alan wouldn't pay to have it fixed, he'd run a fan heater off his Gennie instead.
 
Hats off too him then.
Not knowing him,an eccentric maybe,we need more of them.
A guy I knew a while back was also in his eighties,spent the whole winter lying on his back scraping ,repairing and painting his 30' woodie,mind you he had married his much,much younger companion....quality!!
