...cos I'm not at boat. Questions keep coming to mind so heres another.

How do I flush my Alpha 1 drive?. I have raw water cooling and on Windermere its not a problem but if (when) I go in saltwater it will become neccessary.

How do I do it?

Get a thingy from the chandlers that look like ear phones. Stick them on the leg over water intake. Add hose pipe. You can guess the rest.

Most people call them mufflers - only a few quid - easy to fit.

Anodes. If your on freshwater and want to move to salt. Its worth checking what anodes you've got fitted. Cos if they are the wrong ones, yer drive's gonna disolve init!

Mine don't. In fact they are a really tight fit on the outdrive

But they are huge on the the Merc 4hp !!

Sounds about right. Worth checking though, Duncans drive has been dissolving all season. Think he's had summink like 2 or 3 sets this year!

Hi Adrian
I think you will find everthing will dissolve if you use the anodes that way round!!!!!

it is ZINC for the sea and Magnesium for fresh

<hr width=100% size=1>man made it ,man can repair it, i think??

My boat spends most of its time on the Trailer so not a big issue !!

When i bought my new boat this year, it was put straight into Loch Lomond, I don't know what type of anodes it has on it/forums/images/icons/shocked.gif.
Does it really make a difference? And is there a visual difference between the 2?

I don't want my shiney new bravo 3 rotting away to nothing....

Which for me then?

I moor in a fresh water river, but lock out to enter the salty sandy Humber on every trip.

Do I have to change the anodes for each trip, or is there a mag/alloy composite that suits, or do you fit half and half?

Nah, t'other way. Magnesium on fresh water, zinc in salt. We're in brackish water, so we use magnesium. Either works, it's just a question of how fast they dissolve - magnesium will disappear while you watch in salt water, and zinc will last forever in fresh (but unfortunately your outdrives won't...)
