i was thinking of buying a good pair of breathable boots, is it worth buying durbarry boots or would a cheaper version, such as orca storm boots be just as good?

All down to fit and comfort at the end of the day. None of the modern ones are repairable.

Same here but I'd rather be comfortable and warm at 0300 under a cloudless sky...

Currently, I wear Musto boots but they have stopped making the model, a leather shoe with a gortex upper, and have gone down the rubber shoe "Southern Ocean Boot" route. I find rubber cold.

I suffer from Raynauds Disease, crap circulation to feet and hands and have found that goat hair socks work wonders over wool.
