I have my boat in the drive for a couple of weeks and am proposing to put a boot topping on before relaunch. It's main puropse is the disguise the Windermere slime that invades the 4" above waterline.
Does the Blakes Waterline do a a good job. Is it scrubbable and would I be just as well doing a stripe of Dulux Gloss Black (which I have).
Am I correct in thinking I need to put the boot topping on before the antifoul so that the erodable paint doesn't bring off the boot topping as well?

G'day Phil,

Check out your local sign writer, they supply a tape that stands up very well; looks a lot better than a painted line, simple to apply (before antifouling) and no runs, drips or clean up required.

Checked locally. £50 for the vinyl, it had to be cut from a 2ft wide roll. Ouch! I wonder if there are any suppliers who do 4" tape.

I've used both Trilux and the Blakes equivalent. I find that if you use a paint pad, and its been done before, then a moderately steady hand is just as good as splashing it on all over with a paintbrush and masking tape. I'm not convinced that its any better than the normal antifouling so any scrubbable A/F will probably do.
