Boot Topping

What is the best paint 'twixt wind and water for a white boot topping?

It's only an (approx) 2inch line by about 50 feet long so a large tin of white hard racing copper or whatever is not really appropriate or economically viable..

Suggestions please - last year had a healthy weed growth at this point on the hull - would rather not repeat.

I believe the original idea of a boot topping was that antifoul of old had to be 'wet to work'. Hence the need for a 'special' type of paint, boot topping.

Apparently, this no longer applies as modern antifouls don't need to be wet all the time.

I agree with you though, the high bits often get the worst weed fouling and it's hard to get it off. I just go higher with the antifoul now, but I think boats often look better with a different coloured line. Why not buy a cheapo small can from a Boat Jumble that you like the colour of ?. Think I will have a go myself.

Well I'm trying Blakes Waterline this year for precisely the reason you cite. It comes in 375mm tins and various colours but I'm not sure if it does white

Or go slightly higher with the antifoul and use dulux weather shield. Works for us. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
