What sort of paint does one use for the boot top stripe?

Hard racing antifouling.

Mine is enamel, with a centimetre or so of antifouling showing. My boat is kep in a marina, so the boot top doesn't get foul. In the past I have used boot topping paint at great expense, but anything scrubbable will do. The most successful I have seen was a friend who used to use clear TBT antifouling and was able to use his stock for several years after it was banned.

the simplest is not to bother with a boot top.

A fiddle to mask off specially for it and an unnecessary expense buying another can of some over priced jollop although Hempel Hard Racing Boot Top and International Trilux 33 are available in small cans.

I do like a boot topping but I agree it is a bit of a faff. I use Trilux and a small can lasted me several years so not that expensive.

I have to confess I use Trilux as well but £21 / 375 ml is a heck of an expensive way of buying antifouling compared to say £68 / 3 litres of Uno

Either just to look pretty or is a hard type antifouling which can be scrubbed. Trilux is not very hard but I assume Hempel Hard Racing is

We Have been using the Boot topping tape for many years, easy to apply and lasts a couple of seasons.

Boot Topping enamel. It's not dear. Lap the antifoul over the bottom edge. Otherwise water will wick behind the enamel and cause bubbling.

We use International 2-pack polyurethane. Painted it ona bout 6 years ago , it's still looking good.

Has anyone tried Petit Vivid as Boot topping the red in particular.

I think my old lady looks good in red, but the current boot top of Awlgrip grows green algae and long streamers of weed under the stern. Mind you I am in a high fouling area.

I have use International Toplac for years as the boot topping paint, I usually lift out every 2 years and then it just needs another coat and you can scrub it no problem.
Antifoul below is Jotun.
