"Boot 2017" in Düsseldorf, anyone?

We're going presumably on 23rd January.

Anybody else around?

Yep - a bunch of us: me, Whitelighter, Chas25, Pinnacle, Deleted User, Jrudge if he can sort his life out, Bartw I think and also Myag has promised to make a guest appearance :D. We're mostly there afternoon of 22 January and morning of 23 January. Want to meet up?

Certainly!
If traffic allows we'll be there 23. from about opening hours (10 am) and stay the day
Believe we start at the boot.club stand to claim our members pack and a drink :)

I just got back from a two day visit to boot with a mate. Overall, I thought the event was very good, there was plenty to do and see and we'll definitely go back next year (but for three days).

Fairline Squadron 53 has been discussed on here many times already, but here are some of my personal observations. I loved the dark colour scheme and the high gloss woodwork, it looked of very high quality and very classy. The galley down layout certainly frees up space in the saloon but very effectively isolates the cook from the rest of the crew. In my view having galley up is much better on a family boat such as this.

The crew cabin was a bit claustrophobic. There was no ventilation and no window, although apparently the now fake window on the transom will become a real one in future boats. Access was quite tight as well.

Flybridge was otherwise nice but felt quite exposed, esp. the helm station. Fly steps looked fantastic.

There was very little room for fenders and warps. Tiny lockers on the cockpit sides not even big enough for the rubber shock absorbers i use on my ropes. Also the bow lockers were very small with tight openings.

Master cabin does have standing height on the foot of the bed but not on the sides. Storage in the front cabin was quite limited.

Not entirely impressed, I'm sorry to say.

The Manhattan 52 excelled on many departments. Very good crew cabin with easy access. Massive galley area (maybe even too big for a this size boat) and the bar feature is nice. Sure, the fridge is a bit small but personally I would loose the freezer and have a bigger fridge. Any shortcomings in the cockpit are made up on the fly which is massive and feels very protected with high backrests, etc. It genuinely felt to have been from a lot larger boat. Rope lockers slightly better than on the F/L. Exterior styling is not for everyone but comparing the two boats overall, the S/S has the upper hand on many areas, imho.

The Sanlorenzo 78 was a class act. The feeling of quality was present everywhere you looked. The garage seemed nice as did all the other spaces (minus perhaps the lower helm area). The (single) glass staircase to fly looked fantastic. As I have virtually zero experience of boats this size, I’m probably missing many important details, but it certainly felt a very easy boat to fall in love with. I know I did.

Also loved the way their VP of sales and marketing dedicated his time to us going through the boat and explaining some of the design decisions, their approach to boat building and customization in general and the boat buying process itself. All this despite the fact that I had clearly said at the front desk that we shan’t be buying anything. On our way to the boat he enquired about my current boat and didn't bat an eyelid upon hearing the answer. Our visit at their stand was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and the highlight of the whole show.

well done Kivi,
same experience when I visited the factory in Amelia now 4yago

I was at boot last week sunday and monday, met with the other bunch from the forum,
hopefully we'll meet there next year.

Went to Boot on Friday and Saturday, an amazing boat show, definately going next year but for longer, didnt see everything in the two days i was there, wouldnt go Saturday again though very busy. Excellent.

Agree with every word of Marlene's post. Was there for 2 days. The crowds spoiled the Saturday but the whole event is on a different scale to any UK show, by miles

Forgot to mention on my earlier comment, but Seabobs were absolutely everywhere. It seemed that no would-be med boat worth its salt was complete without one. Jfm was ahead of the curve again.
