I've just been thinking about my soon to be completed purchase - which comes with a boom rolling reefing system. Which is fine - if a little outdated. But then I suddenly thought - how does one arrange a kicker / vang?

By rolling in a length of webbing ( or a sail bag for little boats

OR with a reefing claw, which will also need a guy to the boom end.

OR Manage without

OR convert to slab reefing. This is the best solution.

I had a reefing claw. I converted to slab reefing!

As said plan on converting to slab reefing once you get the boat and try it out with a bit of sailing. Just watch the weather hoping you do not have to reef. best wishes olewill

Well this is no longer my soon to be completed purchase, it is now my recently completed purchase.

And the answer to the kicker conundrum is that there is a wire that runs from the front of the boom to the rear, and which is on a swivel at either end. 1/3 of the way along the boom there is a ring, to which the kicker attaches.

So its probably not as effective as a more conventional arrangement, but it'll do for now.
