Assembling my collection of books to rehouse in the basement most were bought before 1980 when they fuelled my dreams of crossing oceans some hang tomeson splicing or how to hove too or run before a gale, several pilots of the Irish Coast(Atlantic) dated 1953 which I vaguely thought could come in useful.I sometimes wonder if the knowledge I have absorbed through their pages will ever be used ……certainly sitting down in a snug cabin while the stalwart boat rides to a B.O.T sea anchour has been superseded😏Still the books will go back on new shelves as refererence for future voyages ……as Ilive in Spain Don Quijote comes to mind😂

If you enjoyed Farley Mowat's "The Boat Who Wouldn't Float" (which, judging by its condition, you must have read many times!) and if you are in the mood to add to your book collection, may I suggest Mowat's more recent book "Bay of Spirits" which documents his sailing explorations of the south coast of Newfoundland in said boat? You can follow his various passages via Google Earth which offers some reasonably high resolution satellite imagery of the region. In some locations StreetView is available.
