Would welcome your input on books for buidling / repairing boats in wood and / or GRP

Electronics engineer by training so 'technically inclined' but never even got an O level in woodwork so potentially dangerous with a saw !

Many thanks in advance

Judging by your heading you may already have this one:

"Boat Building Techniques Illustrated" by Richard Birmingham.
Pub: Adlard Coles Nautical. ISBN 0 7136 3642 4.

Good Luck. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Been looking myself recently. Try searching Amazon for the author "Ian Nicolson" and a pile of interesting books come up. I also spoke to a guy called Dennis Davis who has great experience and wrote a book on building canoes which gives a lot of information on stich and glue.

For a 'getting started' book I used Paul Fishers own produced book search Selway Fisher.

As for fibreglass no idea....

"Complete Amateur Boatbuilding" By Howard Chapelle is the best book I know of.

"How to Build a Wooden Boat" by Bud Mackintosh

"Practical Yacht Constructiion" by H.C. Jurd

" Complete Amateur Boatbuilding" by Michael Verney.

These only cover traditional boatbuilding techniques.

The Wooden Boat magazine [USA] has several titles available.

"Fitting Out a Fibreglass Hull" by ???
