Just booked flights for 2 from London to Athens - out late April/early May return early July

We normally go Easyjet, but they now only have one flight per day either way and those have arrivals late in the evening preventing onward travel (in our case) without an overnight stopover.

This only leaves Aegean and BA. Prices seem to have shot up and availability gone down compared with this time last year. The best I could get to suit our needs was £171 and £191 return (SWMBO always wisely comes out a week after me!)

Anyone else had problems.

Oh a Happy New Year to y'all.

Just done a check - april 22nd £34 may 19 back £34 on Easyjet

There are plenty of cheap flights that I could see. Did you pick the bank holiday weekend??

Agree that the late flights are a bloody nuisance, so I probably will use Corfu and then Kos later in the year, when we move from the Ionian,

For the dates I wanted, the best I could get with EJet was £120 and £145 return but to this we needed to add overnight accomodation and travel to it at both ends, which I've never had to do before.

I've obviously ended up paying a premium for BA to get earlier flights but think it worth the reduction in hassle. An added bonus for us is that HRow beats Gatwick hands down for convenience. So maybe I'm wrong and It's not more expensive if Ejets new timetable suits you.

I booked a short maintenance trip to Messolonghi out through Athens in mid-March using Easyjets "early" flight from Gatwick at 8am. This is ideal, getting me to Athens mid afternoon and plenty enough time to get the connecting bus from the city.

A week later I booked again for mid-April and (not looking too hard at what I was doing) booked for myself and wife on, what I thought was the same time flight. Quelle horreur when I found that the flight left Gatwick after lunch and thus (probably) necessitating an overnight stay in Athens OR arriving at the boat at 3 or 4am in the morning. Nice of Easyjet to let us regular travellers know of the revised summer schedules......We do have email and they are forever sending me their "offers" so why couldn't they keep me up to date with their altered schedules. aaarrghhhh!!

I suspect they will loose business!
