I will shortly be renovating the teak deck on our Oyster 406. There appears to be plenty of teak left, although I will have to deepen the grooves between the planks. I am unsure what bond breaker tape to use - I have seen 3M Fine Line 218 recommended, but it seems very expensive - I will need 6-7mm wide tape and a 5 pack of 55m tape rolls is just under 50 pounds on Amazon, whereas 'another' brand of painters tape is 8 pounds for a 3 pack of 1/4" by 60 yards. Although I hope to avoid having to redo all the caulking, I am still going to use a considerable amount of tape. Clearly I don't want to go to all the effort of renovating the deck, just to mess it up by using the wrong tape, but does it really matter what I use, so long as it prevents the caulking (TDS 440) from sticking to the bottom of the groove?

I recaulked my Salar 40 and pullout an old twine like line that mush have been used as a baon breaker back in the day. Did not put tape back down , used CT1 as the caulk and it has been perfect ever since.
