At the LIBS I saw an interesting and competitively priced product called BoatWarden that comes from Ireland. Basic system is £299 (with GPS) and you can add sensors and other gadgets, eg turn on bilge pump remotely when it tells you the boat's sinking. You put a PAYG SIM card in it and control it by SMS commands or with an Android app. See www.boatwarden.com.

The website looks like it was put together in a rush with many typos and spelling/grammar mistakes. It is clearly a new product so I wondered if anyone else has formed an opinion, or even bought one. Are there any comparable competitors?

BoatWarden basic price

It seems to have gone up in price since you saw it! Basic system is now €520 inc VAT and handling, which is around £440.

I gather it was a special Boat Show price. They seem to be very keen to build a customer base, which is fair enough...

Sounds a good wee product, URL stored for a later date.

Being an old cynic I loved some of the marketing spin "5 unique VIP users" why is a user a VIP? Can you have non VIP users?
