Not sure I've got this on the right thread, but here we go:

Self (fit 61yr old retired boat builder and wife), living in Pyrenees, France, looking for some boating activity to do in next 6 months. Does anyone need a yacht moving up or down France via canals, not got the time or want to avoid storage? We are looking to buy own boat, but uncertain what we need/want, and thought this might prove mutually beneficial? Could boat sit any location in Med, wouldn't want to move boat on long passages here though late in the year. Will/can carry out any reasonable normal maintenance tasks you need done for next season or pre-sale prep etc. PM me with any offers/ideas.

Doubt if you will find anyone willing to 'lend' you a boat for a winter....regardless of whether you purport to be a potential buyer or not...unless they know you and your history. Don't hold your breath.

Thanks for response. You've got the wrong end of the stick, mostly. I wasn't purporting to be a potential buyer of the boats I might be caretaking, though it might happen. As a retired bod (who ran own yacht design/build business in UK, building GRP and cedar/epoxy composite boats, worked several years for Northshore yachts, in Scrieve loft. fitting out, and almost all departments, hands on & management in the 80's) who came to France 3 years ago to help son develop £3.5million euro hotel business, where I personally built solid oak bars, welcome desks , and other high quality crafted cabinetmaking in the hotel. I don't need to 'borrow' a boat. I'm simply bored (and getting flabby), thought a change would be good, and I'm missing the sea. If someone wanted to avoid worries, perhaps needed work doing too, It'd suit me and help them too. I am looking at boats in Holland with a view to buying one, but its the wrong end of the season to start travelling long distances afloat as winter approaches , and if I buy one it won't be 'til early spring. Hence the boat sitting idea.

Thats better ...a sort of cv. Best place to buy a boat is in southern europe between oct and jan/feb....ie Spain.
I have done this for the last few winters and brought the boats back to the UK by end of April.
