What has happened to boatsandoutboards?

There seem to be very few new ads since it was taken over and what there are, mostly mobos. (not there's anything wrong with that!)

Just, well, strange.

Is it another case of the big boys buying competition to kill it?

I could very well be wrong, but wasn't it free to advertise? Now it's free to place the advert, but they charge to renew it.

it used to make money by redirecting any replies to adds through there premium rate service. I found this out after blaming SWMBO for a £10 phone call after I sold my old outboard there. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If this is true, it's a shame, I've bought a fishing boat and a liferaft off the site and found it really useful to scan the marketplace.

Didn't know about the premium rate numbers, I used to use the email reply service which seemed to work OK.
