Just a few observations from this weekend:

"No assistant on today then, Lockie?"
"Supposed to have a volunteer but they haven't turned up."

Far too many boats passing by too close and too fast making serious wash. Several of us shouting "slow down" had no effect whatsoever - they just kept looking straight ahead and ignored us.

Very long steel vessel with engine running whilst moored just astern of us:
"Excuse me but are you going to be running your engine for long, the noise in my cockpit is horrendous?"
"Oh, wont be long, just cooking breakfast"

"Oh b*gg*r, where's that water under the port engine come from?" Haven't found out yet :(

All last weekend's hard work cleaning completely ruined by birds droppings revealing they'd been eating blackberries or similar.

Strangely, we both felt we'd had a reasonably relaxing weekend !

Boats - don't you just love 'em ?

Our weekend had plenty of frolics. We helped out a broken down boat at Chertsey. Had a very quiet evening with Bradtarga34 at Weybridge (honest). Encountered a mad little boat that overtook us on the way into a lock only to then start the engine while in reverse when the gates opened... And then revved up. Thankfully the wheel wasn't straight and they hit the narrowboat next to us... Without a word of apology. Then we almost got rammed while trying to help a beached hire boat. The boat behind was a friendly chap who was also intrigued by the Kris Cruiser sitting in the mud. But hadn't noticed we had stopped... Thankfully SWMBO shouted in time and a quick full forward saved a problem.
