Boats tonnage

I'm filling the the Radiocommunications Agency form for the boats' radio licence for the coming season and it's asking for the boats tonnage (1 ton = 100 cubic feet). Does anyone now how to work it out, or happen to know the tonnage for a Jaguar 25?

If you fill the boat with water, and count how many buckets of water it takes, and find out how many cubic feet of water each bucket holds, you will be able to find the volume of the boat

This probably refers to Thames tonnage. If your boat is not Part 1 registered I suspect that you don't need to answer this question. Telephone RA and confirm.

Ok here goes...

They will want one of the following three figures......

Displacement Tonnage.
Lloyd's Register Tonnage. (LT)
Thames Measurement Tonnage.

From 1975 Lloyd's Register Tonnage is the official registered tonnage for yachts under 45ft.

LT=LOAxBxDx15.9 now divide by 100

LOA=max length (metres).
B =max beam (metres). Excluding protrusions.
D =moulded depth (metres). Top of floors to upper deck beams amidships.


I can give you formulae for the others as well (I'll stop at this one, for now, just put "(LT)" after the figure.
