He's not treating the forum members like idiots; indeed he's not treating the members as anything at all. He is, however, treating the forum itself as a rich source of Google-juice (which it is) to enhance the search ranking of his site.

That's what it looks like to me, anyway; these posts have no other obvious purpose.

Yes this is a valid comment-I feel a little bit "exploited" when I look at a post and realise that the prime purpose of the posting is possibly to get me to look at a website where there is advertising and other commercial aspects where the number of "hits" has a monetary value.
