My old pal Rob and me were thinking that the charts and pilot books we both bought when we tried to sail round GB and Ireland (we got as far as Dingle)were wasted cash and storage space. But, we thought, if we gave it another go and USED those charts etc we would be Doing the Right Thing. Then we agreed that the time, effort and cost of sailing along the bottom of England would be more waste and we don’t want to go there again anyway, so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Can anyone advise us about road transport for two small boats (Vertues)? From the east coast to, say, the west of Ireland, Dublin, Ulster, North Wales, or Scotland’s west coast? You can see we like to keep our options open. 
Good companies you have used? Cost? Time?

I used to use my Landrover to tow my Hunter Delta 25. Virtues are heavier so that may not be an option. 25mph up the M74 was far preferable to 5kts across the Irish sea was my thinking and I did it for around 4 years.
Some of our local sailors were using their Soling at Cork and went over from Fleetwood to Larne then drove down which they said was quite reasonable.
the 2 boat deliverers that I see a bit of are Clarks of Kirkgunzeon (Dunfries) and Sealand who are based on the old aerodrome on the Road from Liverpool to Preston.
No idea about prices but I once considered getting an Oyster 26 from Brightlingsea to Fleetwood and done as a return load and not in a hurry it was going to come in at around 1K
hope that helps

I used a guy, based in kent, called Jim Brett - Very careful with the boat. Moved my 33ft boat from kent to Cardiff. Cost £500. He picked it up on the Thursday morning and we met him in Cardiff on the Friday morning.

PM me if this is any help and I'll give you his number?

Cheers
