Going to have to shake things up a bit on the boatsontheweb galleries I'm afraid as bandwidth issues are a bit of a pain and peeps dont read the bl**dy instructions anyway ! There are two main areas for Piccy posting....Boaters Gallery which is intended for pics to accompany your posts and Profile Pics which was intended for ..errr...Profile Pics. Unfortunately some peeps cant read and you'll find loads of pics in Profile pics which arent Profile Pics and zillions which dont seem to be active anyway.
As the forums now allow you to attach your profile pic directly to the ybw site, mine isnt really needed anymore so I have decided to close that gallery down at the end of June. If you do have a genuine Profile Pic hosted there you will need to save it back to your computer (if you havent got it there already) and then add it to your User Options directly on the ybw forum area. If you dont do this you will know when Ive deleted it cos the dreaded little red cross will appear instead of your pic. Theres far too many for me to contact you all individually so wakey wakey, shake a leg and grab it if you want to keep it.
The Boaters Gallery will continue as at present except that I will only maintain the current gallery and the immediate past gallery, earlier ones will be deleted from time to time. This means there will always be a minumum of 3 to six months recent pictures available but older stuff will be cleared out and disappear.
I will not be creating any more personal albums. If you already have one and make regular use of it thats fine but please do a housekeeping job and delete any old stuff.
I will also be killing off the Forum area on the site. Theres not enough traffic to make it worthwhile and I see no point in trying to compete with the excellent offerings here /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Anyways, hope all this wont cause too much nashing of teeth and rumbling and grumbling but I have been providing the service FOC with redundant space on my server and the times are changing so needs must as they say. The main galleries for day to day piccies will carry on as usual and I have no plans to discontinue that for the foreseeable future.
PS....these decisions have nothing to do with the extremely crap weather weekend I have just experienced on the Thames /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
