We'd had our boat up for sale for 18 months with very little interest as the market up here has been slow. We dropped the price a bit this spring and had a few viewers but no acceptable offers. With june well on it's way we were preparing ourselves for one more summer with our sealine f37.

Then one of the viewers, whose offer we had rejected, made a better offer which we then decided to accept.

As it was already mid June we knew getting a new boat for the holidays would be challenging but decided to give it a go anyway. After receiving the deposit, my brother and I were on the next plain to UK (i hope you don't mind) to view boats.

But then two trips and many pub lunches later we decided to pull the plug as our holidays were about to start and completing the purchase and making all the arragements for a boating holiday in new waters (which would have been great, btw) would just have taken up too much of our holidays.

So, as others were packing for their mid summer trips, we sat at home wondering where to store our life jackets and other stuff from our ex-boat. An empty feeling.

We made enquiries for hiring a caravan but as much as I tried, I just wasn't very motivated. In fact, I have seriously tried to think of better ways to spend the money (than boating) but so far I've found none. We'll*start our boat search all over again after holidays and hopefully find a new boat for the 2012 season at the latest.

So, i won't be boring you with boating photos this summer, but please keep yours coming to help out one boatless soul...

Well, congrats on the sale I guess, hope you won't be boatless for too long, your photos are fab and will be missed - so hurry back!

Cheers
Jimmy

You surely know which are the two best moments in boating life, don't you? :)
Enjoy the one you just went through, and all the best for the other one which is in front of you!

Well, I hope you enjoy your hols, planning the purchase of the new boat. I guess you could pop over to Southampton for SIBS in Sept? This might give you an opportunity to view the field. There are some pretty good used boat opps as well simultaneous with SIBS.

Yes, visiting SIBS is on our plans. There'll probably be new boats in the second hand market at that time + plus the trade ins from the show. One broker told me that his busyest months are september ond october. I would have thought may/june.

We are looking for a three cabin boat and had a good look around the most obvuoius candidates; phantom 46, phantom 50, princess 50, even manhattan 50. Despite our original target we were pretty close to going for the new sealine f46 as SWAMBO's just loved the interior...

Maybe I should start an yeat another 'which boat thread'...

Forgot to mention the princess 42 that we've also considered.

Btw, does anybody know how to scroll the text field on iPad? Copying and pasting is a bit tedious..

Can't imagine being 'boatless' at all now, certainly would give me that empty feeling but how exciting the hunt for your new one! Hope you find what you're looking for. :)

Congratulations on selling, scubaman, but surely the answer to your holiday conundrum is not to hire a caravan :(:(:( but to charter a boat somewhere nice like the Med?

No. I'd like to know...

Congratulations on selling at a good price. I hope you get a new machine soon, otherwise we will go too long without your pictures. If you find yourself in the South of France, get in touch and I will haopily give you a boating fix any afternoon if I'm there :-) I even have a "Scandinavian week" on the boat next week: one of the directors/shareholders of Sleipner is playing on the boat with his family for a few days and making an underwater movie of his stabilisers

Commiserations, it's a miserable feeling but there is another boat out there with your name on it, you'll just have to find her! Took us a year to find but we're off to our new one this weekend - so there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Jfm, thank you for the very kind offer. Worth a trip to SoF in it self :)

The director must be packing his scuba kit then?

Congratulations on your new boat! Happy cruising on her!

Scuba great news on the sale; shame you will miss her, someone has bought a a very looked after and well photographed boat ;)

I have enjoyed your pictures in the past of both your boat and others you have snapped in the yard etc. Keep them photos coming I have one as a wall paper on one of our laptops!

All the best for the holiday hopefully catch you and your pictures soon.

Ah, thanks. I will try that at the weekend (iPad is on the boat). Sounds good

I don't know exactly who is making the underwater movie but it is one of the Skauen family (who own most of Sleipner). I'll try to get a copy on youtube and link to it. It wont be secret; they will want their movie widely distributed on boating forums I expect

Sorry for thread drift. Back to your thread: imho I think you should add a late model Sq58 to your search list :D

Know how you feel. Sold our Targa a couple of months ago and don't really know what to do with myself! Had an idea about moving to sail but the mobo bug is biting and now looking at options without sails!
