Just been speaking to someone about costs of boating and remembered some great ways to save cash and thought a thread may be helpful so we can share money saving ideas /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

CHEAP FUEL
Find a Village where gas has been recently introduced and offer to empty all the old heating oil tanks................thats free red /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Just mix 60% white with it for two important reasons,
a) your engine will need the lubricating and anti knocking properties the white diesel has

a) HMC&E will be happier that you are paying duty.

CHEAP OIL

Not done by me but a true story !

Choose a boat that hardly gets used and ask the service engineer if you can take the oil to the dump for him, use this in your engine.....true story, 'Harry' changed his oil each and every year with second hand oil.

Go out on someone elses boat!

I don't believe it is possible to boat on a shoestring. Everything nautical is damned expensive.

MMM!

Interesting concepts there.........
What about collecting all the old antifoul dust and flakey bits from the hard standings at the local yard, then mix them into a suitable gallon container of value emullsion paint from your trade diy outlet?
Hey presto cheapo antifoul!
Can be applied with an old jumper soaked in the stuff for the rag rolled effect /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
