I'm condidering taking up an offer from my MD to take charge of our Northern region based at Teesside.

I'm aware of Hartlepool Marina and Whitby.

Any other tips or ideas about boating around Teesside.

I may consider looking for a 'live aboard' solution rather than rushing to relocate property wise (though I'd have to swap the Rinker for something a bit bigger of course). Any thoughts on this around Teesside?

HPool is a good marina and not a bad environment if you avoid Church St around closing time at weekends. Good selection of restaurants, cinema shops etc.

I would avoid Whitby, nice place to visit but there are stories of lots of problems for residents. The entry can be interesting too.

Royal Quays at Nth Shield is also pretty good, certainly worth a look. Rather farther away from shops etc.

The price at HPool and RQuays is very similar - by sheer coincidence of course.

Cannot say anything about Hartleypool, as we just bypassed that one.

Agree about Whitby, as entrance is "interesting" in swell and "closes" .. (read at you own risk) in strong Northerlies... Particulary when it exceedes 2M ... we could not enter when we passed as swell was in excess of 3M at the entrance and was advised not to attempt (not that we wanted to, but kept in touch as we passed going North).

Royal Quays at Nth Shield is also pretty good, worth a look... nice people and felt secure... 24hr guards, coded entrance and all that. Clean marina with right facilities and chandlery not ripoff ... lent me a few things .... Some way away from the shops, but centres nearby... 24 hr access but lock fees on LW though ... £20 I seem to recall... ouch...

Fuel for both Diesel and Petrol

Got family in NCL if you need more information...

Boating up Farne Islands is beautiful, but motor best if you want to do in daytrip.
