Just back from my week in Salcombe with family. Rented a flat with a pontoon mooring (max. 5m) so trailed the 6m RIB and took the tender from Dream Dancer. Had a drying mooring in the harbour for the RIB.

So, with tender literally at the end of the garden (about 20m from the back door), I spent most of the week just messing around with boats. Probably like many of others here, I just love being on the water and the pleasure of having a boat a minute's stroll away is - well you can imagine.

Despite some negative comments about the place, I loved it - although we were at the end of the season so escaped the heaviest holiday rush. Millbrook Inn at the top of Southpool Creek was 'specially good.

The sun shone all week and we didn't do half what what could have - we'll definitely be going back.

Thanks to all who posted tips.

Glad you had a good Hol, you got the mix right by the sound of it, as Hols can be very hit and miss. Did the info I gave you a while back help?

Glad you had a good time. I've a flat on the water's edge in Kingsbridge - doesn't get as crowded as Salcombe - probably something to do with the water escaping down the plug hole for half of the day. Millbrook Inn is good - changed hands last year(I think) - were worried it might go down hill but it hasn't.
I'm down there for a month or so from Mid Sept. If the weather's ok then it will be wonderful - hoping to do trips to the Exe, Fal and Helford in new toy.
Let me know if you return - might buy you a drink/forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

Hi Mike,

Ah yes. Well they were doing Yachmaster prep./exam so wouldn't have had time for gallivanting ashore anyway (not sure if 'gallivanting' is possible in Newtown anyway). Hope they behaved themselves. That was a charter from UKSA.

Regards.

Tim
